I Will Never Forget You

In a small town with patches of farms live a couple, Jack and his lover. They have lived a hard life since the farms are too barren for them to make ends meet. Therefore, Jack has no choice but to leave his lover for somewhere far away to strive for a living. Making up his mind, he is going to tell his girlfriend the cruel truth. He carries her to the beach; looking at the girl, he told her the decision. The girl sobs. Although she doesn’t  want him to leave, she supports him and respects his choice.

“Dear, I get something to tell you.”The girl then raises her head, looks into Jack’s eyes sincerely, and smiles lightly. Jack feels so sad that he does not know how to say. The scene of sea is beautiful, and the girl is so pretty and deserved love. Jack suddenly thinks that he should not leave. There must be some better ways to overcome the economical difficulties in life. He looks around. There is nothing in his country, but the farm. Jack thinks it is very difficult to be successful in that kind of situation.

Jack is now in a dilemma that he just cannot make a decision so quickly. Then he asks the girl to give him three more days to think over about it while the girl smiles like a shining sun, thinking that Jack would stay in the end. However, something out of there expectation happens. Among these days, a wealthy family comes to his country. What’s more, they have a beautiful, graceful daughter who is still single. As soon as seeing this girl from rich family, the evil thought comes to Jack’s mind immediately. He thus thinks that this girl is the one who suits him most as she has a rich family and she is young somehow. Cruelly, he told his girlfriend something unbearable that makes her burst into tears.

Finally, Jack decides to marry the girl to improve his economic situation. The family’s host likes Jack very much and is willing to give his daughter to Jack. However, Jack adds one condition to the marriage. Many years later, the girl still can’t forget Jack and loves him deeply. Nonetheless, Jack never contacts with her.

Strangely, the girl gets an amount of money each month that is enough for her to improve her economic situation. She begins to ask others about the situation. Finally, it turns out that Jack asked the family to give his ex-girlfriend economic support every month. She then bursts out into tears and she knows the fact that Jack will never forget her even though he is other woman’s husband. Similarly, she will remember him in her mind also.

A Day of Alexander

Alexander is an elementary school student. In the morning, he woke up and found that the gum which he forgot to spit the last night was in his hair and the sweater he was going to wear was dropped in the sink. Besides, when eating breakfast, he didn’t find anything but cereal in his cereal box in contrast to his two brothers. Then, he began to think that he was going to have a terrible, not good, bad day.

Things just went on as he thought in the morning. In the school bus, he sat between other students and was squeezed. In school, no matter what he did, his teachers were dissatisfied. Moreover, his best friend, Paul, said that Alexandra wasn’t his best friend anymore. All the things made him think that he was going to have a terrible, horrible, very bad day. However, one good thing happened to him when he felt disappointed. The most popular girl, Jenny who has big blue eyes and curly blond hair came to him; she seemed to be shy. ” What a cute girl!” Alexander thought. Then the girl gave Alexander a pink letter, kissing him in the face quickly, and ran away. Alexander was stunned; he blushed immediately. He unfolded the letter and it was written: I have adored you for a long time; can you be my best friend? Feeling ecstatic, he went into the classroom with a big smile on his face.

In lunch time, bad things happened again. His classmates all had a dessert in their lunch box except Alexandra. He started to feel disappointed. While he lowered his head, eating his lunch, suddenly he heard someone calling his name. He then stood up and looked out the classroom. To his surprise, it was his mom that stood by the door. She carried a chocolate cake for Alexander. Full of happiness, Alexander changed his mind and thought that things didn’t go bad as he earlier thought.

After school, he went home. He stood by the door, waiting for his mom to drive him to the dentist. When he was looking around, he saw something sparkling on the ground. It was a beautiful diamond. Meanwhile, his mom ran into the garden nervously, looking for something in a flurry. Alexander took out the diamond and asked her mom whether she was looking for it. To his astonishment, his mom shouted out and gave him a big hug. Sighed with relief, Alexander’s mom thanked him and decided to buy the video game which Alexander had longed for.

A day passed. In the bed, the boy continued to think about what had happened today. Things went from bad to good. He was glad that he changed his thought in the afternoon because the positive attitude made him lucky the rest of the day. He thought that if he still held the negative thinking, he would be more unlucky. Therefore, he decided to be optimistic all the time; he believed that only by holding the right attitude can he leave unlucky things away.

World Game, a special experience (draft2)

I took part in the World Game as a reporter to interview the foreign players on behalf of my high school when I was an eleventh grade student. It was a hot summer in 2009, the time of a big activity in my hometown, Kaohsiung. Athletes from all over the globe came to this city. They were well-prepared and excited about this event; they can’t wait to battle with other countries.

Each school in Kaohsiung was going to take charge of a sport event, and my school was responsible for the sport fistball. We had to do a lot of things: interviewing the players, setting the World Game website ourselves and finally writing a report. However, it’s not all the students can do this. In order to get the chance, the students were asked to have some tests before entering the reporter team.

After an English composition test and the oral quiz, I luckily got the chance to enter this reporter team which contained thirteen members. We began to have a series of training such as writing, speaking, and information collecting ability. Time flied, several months later, we were in the sport field!

It was a hot day, the sun with orange light hung highly in the sky, the team members, including me, were all excited about what we were going to do: contacting and talking with foreigners. The country I was going to interview was Germany. After they finished the match, my partner and I entered their tent and started the interview. Unlike the hot weather outside, it was cool in the tent. Feeling the cool temperature, my partner and I were satisfied and regained our strength. We picked one player to talk with. Then, the interview began. He told me how long he had been playing this sport, how much time he spent on training every day, how did he think about this game and other competitors and finally, of course, how did he think about Taiwan.

He was pretty patient and passionate to answer our questions. Therefore, we chatted happily and had a complete interview. I didn’t know how hard-working the players were until then. They all have a job; nonetheless, they had to train after work no matter how tired they were. To my surprise, they were willing to do it and wouldn’t feel toil. Moreover, they had been playing fistball since they were just little kids. What was interesting is when they were taking a break, they still focus on the field, watching the contest between other countries; they even took notes! I think maybe this is the reason why it was hard for Taiwan to win over them because we just play the sport for only one year and perhaps the attitude is different from them. After the interview, we gave them our handmade card; as a reward, they kindly hugged us and took pictures with us.

Through this event, I broadened my horizon and had a special experience contacting foreigners. This is the first time for me to understand how big the world is and how tiny I am. In one word, I was glad that I have the chance to do something special and I really gained much knowledge not only about the sport, fistball, but also the difference between country and country. Although the process was exhausting and time-consuming, I firmly believed that it was worth doing.

Bill Gates, a successful person (draft 2)

Bill Gates is the person who I respect the most. He is successful in his career because of his persistence and hard-working. Born in a rich family and having a sister who is older than him, Gates had lived in a good environment. His parents are strict while at the same time respect them. Gates has a gift especially for math. Moreover, he has fallen in love with computer since he got in touch with it for the first time at the age of thirteen. Therefore, studying and digging into things related to computer system has been his lifelong interest.

He quit Harvard University without graduating and then created Microsoft with his friend. Never did them think that the company will be so successful and brilliant in the future. As we know, nowadays, almost every computer is equipped with the software of Microsoft. For instance, the Word, Power Point, Excel, and so on are really helpful for not only adults but teenagers. To be frank, people can’t live without the software created by the Microsoft, especially those who work in the office; they use this software every day.

However, when a person becomes successful, there may be something difficult waiting for the person. It goes without saying that in the process to success, Bill Gates was faced with a lot of obstacles. For example, some software entrepreneur tried all they can to find out some reasons to defeat Gates. To be frank, Gates was confused and helpless at that time. Nevertheless, he took the challenge and keeps moving forward to ride out the difficulty. It is his effort and persistence that Microsoft can keep striving.

There are many reasons result in his success. For instance, he spends a lot of time to communicate with others, trying to express his concepts to others clearly. He says that the biggest challenge is to find the best people and organize them, doing the best thing for the society and for people worldwide.

He is crazy about his job. In other words, he loves his job and he enjoys working. Others think that it’s too bitter for him to work all the time; however, he is happy to be busy. Gates says that he wants to be a person who will not regret for his goal and dream and that he will devote all his life in working. What attract me the most is that he doesn’t care about how much money he makes. On the contrary, he cares that whether he would be too old to come up with creative ideas.

Although he makes a great deal of money, he isn’t selfish at all. Unlike many successful people, Gates is devoted to charities all over the world, helping people who are suffered and live in a bad environment. I respect him from the bottom of my heart. He is an ideal model for me to learn something from. His perseverance, hard-working, creativity, and benevolence are what I lack and what I have to learn.

self-introduction

I’m Dora, a student studying in National Chung Hsing University. I live in Kaohsiung until I got into this university. I live in a small village where the people are kind and generous. My family consists of five people, namely my parents, my sister, my brother, and I. My friends always say that I’m an easygoing person, and that I have good temper. Actually, I’m shy and sometimes afraid of contacting someone I don’t know. I think I’m optimistic and always think things in a positive way. In my opinion, only by thinking in this way can I live a happy life because I don’t want to be nervous all day or worried about things which are difficult to me.
My favorite country is Japan. I love its traditional culture and the picturesque scenery. Moreover, my hobby is watching Japanese drama. They always give me a lot of important moral lessons and make me think of many things in my daily life or even in the society. Unlike some romantic drama, Japanese drama is more interesting and instructive. This is the reason why I love them. Besides, I love exercise. Sometimes I go jogging; exercising makes me throw my bad emotion away. Through doing exercise, I can refresh myself and keep moving forward.
I had ever taken part in English recitation contest in junior high school and English composition contest in senior high school which was held by Kaohsiung City. When I was in my eleventh grade, I participated in 2009 World Game in Kaohsiung as an interviewer to interview foreign athletes on behalf of my school. It is a special and interesting experience to me. I can contact with people from other countries and talk to them; I learn a lot from them such as the sport they play and culture they have. Moreover, I know that they really value their job, namely the sport. They do a lot of training and pay much effort throughout many years. After hearing this, I realized why the players in Taiwan are hard to exceed them.
Now I’m a sophomore; I should consider my future instead of fooling around all day. As an English major student, it goes without saying that I want to apply what I have learned in this period to my job in the future. I don’t have a very definite idea what I’m going to do in the future. What I can do now is try my best to learn and remember the knowledge that is useful to me.
